It is indeed my privilege to convey my good wisehs and facilitations to the principal, faculty, administrative staff and the students of Babu Kamta Prasad Jain Mahavidyalaya for bringing out the first issue and broucher, the aptly named ‘Jigyasa’, which means ‘enquiry’ ‘curiosity to know’ ‘a sense of wonder’, exploration,’ ‘creativity’. All disccoeres known to human kind have happened as a consequence of ‘Jigyasa’. To my mind inculcating jigyasa is the real aim of education. Journal learning provides merely a tool to further explore it, and solve the intericaties of life. To achieve this aim, the Managing Committee of the college has left no stone unturned in providing most educational resources in terms of faculty, laboratories, library etc, so that we may prepare competent, quality professionals for 21st century schools of the country.

This college is a Jain minority institution. The fundamental tenet of Jainism is that truth is relative and not absolute and has several dimensions. Jainism, therefore, insists that due space ought to be given to others point of view. This very principle has given birty to the doctrine of ‘Ahimsa’, i.e. is live and let live’. My dream is that the outgoing teacher educators from this institutions will not only follow these tenets in their own lives but will also insuit these great values, specially the sense of respect for other’ point of view into the mind of their younger pupils so that the roots of democracy are strengthened in this country and the future generation might enjoy the ruits of violence-free society. This brouchure also, I have no doubt, will serve this purpose. I hope all of us will keep the flag of this institute flying high with our dedication and commitment.

With best wishes
Dr. B.D. Jain
President
